American alternative rockers Garbage will return with seventh studio album «No Gods No Masters» - on June 11th, 2021 via Stunvolume / Infectious Music / BMG.
«This is our seventh record, the significant numerology of which affected the DNA of its content: the seven virtues, the seven sorrows, and the seven deadly sins.. a critique of the rise of capitalist short-sightedness, racism, sexism and misogyny across the world.»
First in five years album was self-produced with help of their longtime collaborator studio engineer and mixer Billy Bush. Writing demos began in April 2018 in Palm Springs. Later work was paused, as Garbage marked the twentieth anniversary of their second album «Version 2.0» (1998) with the two month 20 Years Paranoid Tour, before reconvening in Los Angeles to finish the new record. Recording work began in earnest from September until COVID-19 restrictions in March 2020. Finishing touches were applied via digital collaboration, the album was mixed throughout July 2020.
«It's certainly a different-sounding record than our last couple [of albums]. It has lots of guitars, lots of melodies and hooks. It's poppier than the last record.»
Garbage «No Gods No Masters» will be available on CD, Neon Green Vinyl and Limited Edition White Vinyl LPs, as well as a Deluxe Edition CD featuring a Bonus CD with all Garbage standalone singles released between 2013 and 2018, including covers of David Bowie's «Starman» and Bruce Springsteen's «Because the Night».
