Tears For Fears will release their first globally issued official live album «Songs For A Nervous Planet» on October 25th, 2024 via Concord Records.
Tears For Fears «Songs For A Nervous Planet» was recorded at the scenic FirstBank Amphitheater at Graystone Quarry in Franklin, Tennessee, during sold-out Tipping Point Tour Part 2.
«We’ve never released an official live album, so you could say this is an album 40 years in the making.»
Along with the live recordings, the album features four new studio tracks: «Say Goodbye To Mum And Dad», «Emily Said», «Astronaut», and single «The Girl That I Call Home». These new songs expand on the career-spanning setlist, covering love, isolation, mental health, and escapism.
«My wife Emily has been on at me for years to try and write her a love song. So eventually I did it. I was in Hawaii, I took my phone with me and every day I would sing over the backing track, many, many times. But I couldn’t for the life of me, think of a title. Then one night, I went to bed and I did that thing where we ask the universe, ‘please gimme a hand, gimme, a really good title.’ I woke up the next morning with The Girl That I Call Home. And my wife loves it»

«Tears For Fears Live (A Tipping Point Film)» as stunning concert film comes to cinemas worldwide in October via Trafalgar Releasing.
«We decided to film the live show last year. I think a lot of people don’t know that we are a good live band, actually! They see a duo, and they think it’s going to be two people with a couple of keyboards and a bunch of backing tapes, and that’ll be it. Over the years, we’ve vastly improved since our heyday back in the Eighties.»
The cover for «Songs For A Nervous Planet» was envisioned in collaboration with artist Vitalie Burcovschi, also known as Surrealistly. Album artwork is a mixed media digital collage, with AI being just one of the many tools used in the creative process. Band wanted vibrant artwork that evoked a sense of sci-fi, futuristic themes, and an escape from what is known. The sunflowers are a joyful nod to classic Tears For Fears imagery, while the juxtaposition of the astronaut is a link to their upcoming song «Astronaut» and a sense of alienation and not belonging. Band have been fans of Surrealistly’s work for a long time and knew he would be the perfect artist to bring their vision to life.
«Collaborating with the band to bring their vision to life has been an incredible experience. Balancing surrealism with the emotional depth of their music was a challenge I fully embraced, and I believe the final artwork captures the powerful essence of their story.»
