KMFDM presents «Extra» - a three volume set of double disc collections of all KMFDM tracks not included on the ten KMFDM classic albums. Extra features remastered tracks culled from the band's 12" vinyl singles, CD singles and alternate versions of albums. All of the material on «Extra» has been out of print for many years with some songs appearing on CD for the first time ever.
Continuing the tradition started with the KMFDM classic releases the accompanying booklets for the «Extra» series are packed with exciting material. Highlights include cover art from every album and single from which cuts were taken (most covers are by famed KMFDM cohort Brute!) and never before seen photos of the band. As it has been with all the KMFDM re-releases, work on this series, from the remastering to the packaging, has been done with the highest level of participation from Sascha K., KMFDM's leader and founder.
«Extra Volume 2» (cat.no.: MET 557) will be available on August 5th via KMFDM Records/Metropolis Records.

[ 18.06.2008 ] - Volk Tour DVD from Laibach«Volk - Dead In Trbovlje» |
Laibach released new live DVD «Volk - Dead In Trbovlje» (cat. no.: LBACHDVD6) on June 16th, 2008 via Mute / EMI. This DVD marks the end of the extensive tour based on their acclaimed album, «Volk», a collection of interpretations of national anthems and includes the national anthem for NSK, the State in time without territory and national boundaries which Laibach have been linked with since its formation in 1992.
Laibach are uncovering a common ground linking the nations, a shared patriotic sentiment based around the bloody and violent foundations of nation which here, can be heard in the lyrics and pomp of the largely hymnal tracks. By reinterpreting the music and translating the lyrics of each anthem, the band have not only shown us this common ground, they have also offered up a very pertinent comment on today's political situation and a warning for future generations.
The DVD contains their concert in Trbovlje, the industrial town associated with the birthplace of Laibach, a multimedia event that toured all over Europe.
As a bonus, the DVD offers a collection of some of the most relevant screens that were projected during the show, animated stories of soem of the most important songs. The Laibach music videos associated with «Volk» are part of the content too. The project ends with a tour medley, a short video commentary as a souvenir from some of the places where Laibach have toured with «Volk».
