Depeche Mode regret to announce that they are forced to cancel 9 shows on their Tour of the Universe. Doctors have advised that more time is needed to allow singer Dave Gahan to fully recover from his recent illness and ensure that the tour can resume shortly.
Depeche Mode apologise to all their fans for this inconvenience and wish Dave a speedy recovery.
Ticket holders for the above shows are advised to hold onto their tickets, as an announcement will follow soon with regard to either new rescheduled concert dates, or their final cancellation.

Electronic music pioneer Vince Clarke officially announces the opening of his new studio, The Cabin. He has shipped his battery of vintage keyboards, synths, sequencers and drum machines from their previous home outside London, to a most unlikely locale, the bucolic pine forests and craggy seashore of mid-Coast Maine where he now resides. Ensconced in a log cabin nestled on a hilly ridge, The Cabin is one of the few recording studios on Earth in which such an extensive amalgam of analog electronic instruments and state-of-the-art digital recording technology coexist.
Vince has recently remixed newest singles Franz Ferdinand «No You Girls», The Presets «If I Know You» and Space Cowboy «Falling Down».
By the way, «Just Can't Get Enough», the first hit penned by Vince, continues to make waves on the charts, on radio and on TV nearly three decades since its release. Recently scorinavy rotation on Radio 1 and the #2 position on the UK singles chart via a perky cover by girl group The Saturdays.

[ 21.05.2009 ] - Dependent to reopen this Summer!The independent electronic label Dependent will resume operations in Summer/Fall 2009 and is forming a strategic partnership with the US independent label Metropolis Records. Dependent stopped releasing new material in late 2007 due to the devastating effects music piracy has had on both artists and record labels and has not released any new material since that time.
Dependent owner Stefan Herwig comments on the decision to reopen: «We have constantly been getting encouraging mails from fans asking us to reopen or continue operations as Dependent. We were also surprised, as we did not think that our absence from the European industrial scene would have created such a noticeable gap, but I think that it has. I was particularly shocked to discover some absolutely amazing new recordings and newcomer bands being unable to find label support and getting lost in the vast pool of mediocre bands on the internet. This reopening would not be possible without the partnership with Metropolis Records which will see both labels merging significant portions of the artist rosters. For example, Metropolis will give Dependent European rights to key artists like Front Line Assembly, strengthening our artist roster considerably. Joining forces will also enable both Dependent and Metropolis to make extremely attractive distribution offers for both the European and North American territories. It is certainly exciting to be back in the game.»
Dependent will also continue to sign and release its own bands as well as announcing joint signings together with Metropolis Records. One of the first joint signings announced will be British synthpop icons Mesh who are planning a new album for Fall 2009.

Placebo will release their new album «Battle For The Sun» on June 5th. Placebo's sixth record, the follow-up to 2006's «Meds» is the first album featuring the new drummer Steve Forrest and will be released through the PIAS Entertainment Group. The producer for the new album was David Bottrill. Album is heavier than more recent efforts, and recalls the band's original harder sound. However, there are more complex string arrangements, as well as trumpets and saxophones, showing the band is still growing musically and expanding their sound. Frontman Brian Molko has stated that «Battle For The Sun» is Placebo's first album with a single unifying theme. Limited Edition will include bonus DVD.

«Monumentum» is the name of the long-announced and eagerly-expected second regular album by Frozen Plasma. After the highly successful (and sold out) single releases «Hypocrite», «Irony», «Tanz die Revolution» and «Earthling» as well as their debut album «Artificial» and the «Emphasize» EP, they return with a true masterpiece.
13 songs and almost 70 minutes of running time. The tremendous voice of singer Felix Marc makes the sound of Frozen Plasma unique and catchy. Musicwise the album shows a wide range of electronic music, between futurepop, TBM, electro and pop.

In human colour psychology, «Rot» is associated with energy, heat, blood and strong emotions like: aggression, passion and love. Furthermore «Rot» represents revolutionary movements and symbolizes wrath – one of the seven deadly sins.

Depeche Mode is inviting all budding DJs and aspiring producers out there to remix the upcoming band’s single «Peace», taken from their new album «Sounds of the Universe». The winning remix will be released on Beatport through Mute Records. You have to download the remix parts for «Peace» ($3.99), remix it and upload to Beatportal till May 26th. From May 26th till June 9th there will be voting phase (the public votes for their favorite remixes by spinning them). After a period of deliberation, the winner will be announced on June 25th, 2009.
Apart from having your winning remix released on Beatport through Mute Records, the grand prize winner will also receive:

Marc Almond's second album of Russian folk songs recorded in Moscow, «Orpheus In Exile (The Songs Of Vadim Kozin)», supposed to be released in late 2009 - early 2010 via Strike Force Entertainment.
Marc's tour for later this year has now been confirmed. The Autumn shows will be diverse in the choice of material; Marc will be debuting some new songs from his forthcoming album, as well as some back catalogue favourites not played for a while and, of course, some old favourites without which a Marc Almond concert wouldn't be a Marc Almond concert so everybody, he hopes, will be satisfied and enjoy the shows.
